Support grows for Kelowna yoga instructor injured in cycling crash

KELOWNA – Friends of a Kelowna cyclist seriously injured in a crash are rallying around her and showing their support.

Andy Hayden, who is in her 30s, was on her bicycle when she was hit by a five-ton water truck on Oct. 9 at the intersection of Pandosy Street  and Cadder Avenue.

She was dragged and pinned underneath the vehicle.

Hayden has since been moved to Vancouver General Hospital to begin her recovery.

The popular yoga instructor lost almost four litres of blood from the ordeal.

Feeling helpless and wanting to do something, friends are organizing a blood drive in Hayden’s name to raise awareness about the need to donate blood.

Krista Suchar is a friend who’s helping organize the blood drive.

She says the blood drive will start on Monday and take place at the Canadian Blood Services clinic on Dilworth Drive.

It will be at least a week…
