Support grows for Kelowna yoga instructor injured in cycling crash

It’s in you to give!

Global News

KELOWNA – Friends of a Kelowna cyclist seriously injured in a crash are rallying around her and showing their support.

Andy Hayden, who is in her 30s, was on her bicycle when she was hit by a five-ton water truck on Oct. 9 at the intersection of Pandosy Street  and Cadder Avenue.

She was dragged and pinned underneath the vehicle.

Hayden has since been moved to Vancouver General Hospital to begin her recovery.

The popular yoga instructor lost almost four litres of blood from the ordeal.

Feeling helpless and wanting to do something, friends are organizing a blood drive in Hayden’s name to raise awareness about the need to donate blood.

Krista Suchar is a friend who’s helping organize the blood drive.

She says the blood drive will start on Monday and take place at the Canadian Blood Services clinic on Dilworth Drive.

It will be at least a week…

Marathon Season for up2wellbeing

The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), also known as the 26.2 distance, usually run as a road race.

The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides,  a messenger from the Battle of Marathon to Athens.

The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896, though the distance did not become standardized until 1921. More than 500 marathons are held throughout the world each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes as larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants.

For the 4th year in a row up2wellbeing has participated on the top North American Marathons, mainly New York, Boston, Chicago, this year we add Washington D.C and San Antonio. This represent a big deal for us, these types of events are not only energetic, full of opportunity, good vibes but they bring thousands of people to the city and to the Expos. Every Marathon is preceded by a 2 or 3 day expo, where the main sponsor of the race along with hundreds of exhibitors display and sell their products, from cheese strings to cars, from shoe laces to the most sophisticated pair or running shoes. The newest and more updated technology goes into these massive events. We? we sell “hydration” yeah we do, we educate people from all over the globe to learn how to PROPERLY HYDRATE their bodies. Not an easy task, but one hell of a fun one. Up2wellbeing helps out with mainly international runners, due to our dedicated staff capable of speaking other languages. As part of an overall “health approach” and multi levels of expertise and skills, we help sell hydration in a form of a tablet, that dilutes in water within seconds and provides runners with all the essential minerals needed to replenish or nourish their bodies, before or after training and races. We were just in #chicagomarathon past October 12th. Over 40000 thousand runners from all over the world gather there to participate in this event. The fastest runner Kenyan  Rita Jeptoo repeats a 2:24:36.

We also broke record sales at the NUUN booth. We had fun, we gave away over 1200 water bottles and sold over 2500 tubes of nuun hydration tablets.

We are off at the end of the month to Washington D.C and my favorite New York City Marathon.

This is one of the many services we offer @up2welbeing. Health=Sales=Results!  So stay tuned for our next event, stay informed, make people talk about your business or feel free to contact us, we can help.

Stay hydrated,

up2wellbeing team
